Miss Laura Tillotson
Miss Laura Tillotson, 6th Grade Core (Medieval Period: Literature, History, Religion, & Latin), is very excited to begin her sixth year teaching at St. Rita School. Miss Tillotson is a graduate of Christendom College, where she majored in theology and double minored in philosophy and in Classical and Early Christian Studies (the study of documents from antiquity in Latin and Greek — in other words, what one would find in ancient libraries). Before teaching at St. Rita’s, Miss Tillotson tutored many high school students in religion, history, literature, and Latin, and during college also worked at St. John the Evangelist Library. Miss Tillotson holds her Advanced Catechist Certification from the Arlington Diocese and her teaching certification through the Virginia Catholic Education Association. Some of the highlights of teaching for Miss Tillotson include experiencing the infectious joy of her students, communicating enthusiasm for the subject matter to her students, developing critical thinking skills, hearing the hilarious or adorable things young children say, promoting a love of reading and poetry, leading students to what is true, good, and beautiful, and praying with her students.
