NVJCYO Sports
St Rita School currently participates in activities through Northern Virginia Junior Catholic Youth Organization (NVJCYO) which has a member organization of approximately 45 parishes from the Diocese of Arlington. It organizes a Track Meet, Cross Country, Basketball organization consisting of 10 leagues, Cheer leading, Softball, Baseball, and Tennis. NVJCYO sports activities are open to CCD students.
Mission statement of NVJCYO
The mission of the NVJCYO, through its member parishes, is to organize sports programs for parish youth from 4th through 8th grades throughout the Catholic Diocese of Arlington, to reinforce Catholic values taught in parish schools and religious education programs. It is an important component of the comprehensive approach to youth ministry in the Diocese. The programs administered by NVJCYO are meant not only to encourage healthy physical activity but also to play a significant role in the development of Catholic values in the youth of the Diocese and these activities should foster cooperation, respect, sportsmanship, responsibility, leadership, competitiveness, fairness and courtesy.
