Mrs. Mary Pat Schlickenmaier
Mrs. Mary Pat Schlickenmaier, Principal, begins her 34rd year with the Diocese of Arlington and her 21st year as Principal of St. Rita School with this school year. A graduate of Loyola College, Mrs. Schlickenmaier began teaching right after graduation at Elizabeth Seton High School, where she taught chemistry, physics and bioethics. In 1985 she began teaching junior high science, math and computer technology at St. Mary’s School in Alexandria where she remained for 13 years until 1998 when she was selected as the principal of St. Rita School. Mrs. Schlickenmaier holds a masters degree from the University of Virginia in School Administration and Supervision. She has a Post Graduate Collegiate license from the State of Virginia with endorsements in Administration and Supervision preK-12 and Biology as well as an Advanced Catechist license from the Diocese of Arlington. In 2015 she received the National Distinguished Principal Award by both the National Catholic Education Association and the U.S. Department of Education. Her husband, Herb, retired as the Program Director, Aviation Safety, for NASA and is now a vice president of Crown Consulting. He also serves as the webmaster for the parish. She has two sons, William and John, and a grandson, Teddy.
